Tameside’s Libraries Offer a Warm Welcome

Date Released - 19/10/2022

Tameside Council are reminding residents that their libraries are warm, safe and welcoming spaces for all to enjoy.

Tameside’s libraries offer free and warm spaces which can be enjoyed by all, especially as colder weather is approaching and energy bills are rising. There are eight welcoming libraries across Tameside which provide soft seating, free-wifi, and computer facilities where residents can spend their time reading or relaxing. Friendly and helpful library staff can also provide people with a range of advice and support available.

Tameside Council Executive Member for Population Health and Wellbeing, Cllr Eleanor Wills said; “Struggles with finances can seriously impact our physical and mental wellbeing, it’s important you reach out for the help that is available to you. We’re here to support you this winter, residents are always welcome at their local library. Libraries are safe and warm spaces for everyone to not only read but relax, but to use free Wi-Fi and computer facilities.

‘’Using our libraries could help you keep your energy bills down this winter. Our helpful staff can also signpost you to local support and advice available if you are struggling with bills, housing, mental health and more. Please do not struggle alone, access the support services that are available to you.’’
